NEW CHIEFTAINCY HONOUR IN LAGOS: OBa RILWAN AKIOLU CONFERS AARE OTUN ATULUTO TITLE ON DR. OLUMIDE ABIODUN
It was a historic and memorable occasion last Saturday as the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, conferred the prestigious Aare Otun Atuluto of Lagos chieftaincy title on Dr. (Chief) Olumide Abiodun, alongside seven other distinguished personalities.
The colourful ceremony took place at the Oba’s Palace, Iduganran, Lagos Island, marking the filling of a position that had remained vacant for over fifteen years. The event was richly adorned with displays of Yoruba culture, tradition, and royal pageantry.
The ceremony attracted an array of high-profile dignitaries, including the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his wife, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; renowned business mogul Chief Rasaq Okoya (Baba Ijebu); Chief Adedeji Adele (Adole); Chief Kessington Adebutu, as well as kingmakers and heads of traditional chiefs across Lagos State.
During the Iwuye ceremony, the royal salutation that followed the conferment, Kabiyesi Oba Rilwan Akiolu described Dr. Chief Olumide Abiodun as a humble administrator and a true gentleman who possesses deep love for Lagos State. The monarch commended him for his immense and continuous contributions to the development and progress of the state.
The conferment of the Aare Otun Atuluto title on Dr. Abiodun is widely seen as a recognition of his service, leadership qualities, and unwavering commitment to the growth of Lagos.
