The Association of Capacity Development Consultants has honoured the 60th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chief Davidson Chizuoke Stephen Alaribe, FCA, with a special award in recognition of his contribution to the accountancy profession and human capacity building in Nigeria.
The event, held at Excellence Hotel, Ogba, Lagos, coincided with Chief Alaribe’s 60th birthday and the Institute’s 60th anniversary. He was accompanied by the Vice-President, Alhaji Haruna Yahaya, PhD, FCA—now the new ICAN President—along with the Institute’s Director of Finance, Alhaji Hassan, and Special Assistant to the President, Mr. Kehinde Adejare. The Registrar, Dr. Lanre Olasunkanmi, who was unavoidably absent, sent his goodwill message.
The ceremony was chaired by Deacon Ndubuisi Ugbede, former Director of the Times Institute of Journalism and ex-Managing Editor of Daily Times Plc. Keynote papers on training and service delivery were presented by Hon. Joseph Okonma, former Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and Mr. Adekunle Ogunsola, FCIS, former Deputy Registrar of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
Prominent trainers and consultants in attendance included Mr. Peter Amushie, Deacon Ndubuisi Okereke, Deacon Moses Egbo, Pastor Kola Olupitan, and Mr. Solomon Onyeamakwe, among others. Several members also joined virtually from within Nigeria and abroad, including Dr. Frederick Sunday, Mr. Victor Eboh (UK), and Mr. Ifeanyi Oyenakwe (Canada).
In his acceptance speech, Chief Alaribe expressed gratitude to the association, urging members to uphold professional ethics and embrace continuous self-development to enhance service quality.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the award by the Association’s President, Chief Augustine Anonyai Ojei, with the citation read by consultant Mr. Peter Ogar. The ceremony was anchored by author Joseph Edoki and Pastor Kola Olupitan
